About Building Content

The long range goal at Building Content is to help usher in the next golden age of our profession; Architecture.

Building Content was created in a time of profound unemployment; for me, for a handful of coworkers, and for hundreds of contemporaries nationwide. As I spent time online seeking my own way I began to meet some of my fellow unemployed architects. I soon realized that the same social media that brought their crushing stories could be used to transmit their higher content as well. My blog-mission was born.

Building Content was initially conceived as “The Architects Resource for Professional Blogging.” Its goal was to provide community, coaching and curated content for the burgeoning field of architectural bloggers. The intervening years have shown that many of my fellow architects are mastering the art and craft of professional blogging. (They’ve done this apart from my “coaching and content” for the most part!)  Many voices have emerged to represent their own work – and the profession as a whole – in a manner unknown before the emergence of the new media.

Building Content is being re-conceived as indicated by the new tag line “Architecture Holds a Thousand Stories.” Popular culture is full of tales of business, legal, medical, and forensic work, but our profession remains a closed book. With new media and new technology, content is being consumed at unprecedented levels – yet there is a scarcity of fine architectural content. Who better to produce this content, to tell the stories, than the architects who live it? I intend to develop new means for architects to begin to tell the Thousand Stories as news, documentaries, histories, biographies and the full range of fictional works.

With superb professional blogging as the foundation, we will build the thousand stories of architects and architecture and usher in the next golden age of our profession!
