Architectural Bloggers’ Chat

Here’s what you need to know about the Architectural Blog Chat:

Participants: Architectural Blogger’s Twibe members; anyone who blogs about architecture

Moderator: Yours truly, Collier Ward, “Content Architect”

Date: Second Thursday of each month

Time: 8pm EST / 7pm CST / 6pm MST / 5pm PST

Duration: 60 minutes (if that) that will live on in the Twitterverse

Twitter hashtag: #ABlogChat (be sure to include in all your Tweets)

There will be no heavy lifting in our inaugural Architectural Bloggers’ Chat. Many of us already know one another from Twitter and are familiar with each others’ blogs; I hope we’ll get a little bit deeper into the motivations, consequences and benefits of our architectural blogging experience.

Fun With Words

Any repeat visitors to Building Content know that your’s truely, the “Content Architect“, loves words. (I refer you to the Foundation Content page for further understanding of this claim.) If the words have to do with architecture, that’s all the better.

If you’re still reading, you may share this penchant for such words (or perhaps your mouse is broken and you’re stuck on this screen).

Let me recommend the Secret Word Game offered by David Stutzman and the people at Conspectus, Inc.

Revised Feature: Curated Content

In 2012 Building Content will revise the practice of regularly posting items of “curated content” from the best sources on the Internet. These examples of content curation will be easily recognized by the “CC:” prefix in their titles. Unlike our standard posts, these will have little or no editorial comment. They will simply be presented here for community discussion and as source material for other architectural sites throughout the blogosphere.

Please leave a comment below about the type of content that would benefit or interest you most. Remember that “content” could be in the form of written articles, graphic images, audio podcasts or video recordings; it could originate from interviews, journals, lectures, or from a range of entertainment sources. Likely topics could include sustainability, media trends, policy issues and product reviews. The bottom line is that Building Content desires to “curate” the content that will best help you build your own blog.

Architectural Bloggers’ Chat 2012

As returning readers know, a major focus of Building Content has been to foster a vibrant architectural blogging community. I have high hopes for this community in 2012. Going forward I want to leverage what we’ve already witnessed online via Twitter; architects, students and interns sharing ideas and getting to know one another.

To that end, I am introducing the Architectural Bloggers’ Chat for 2012.

The hashtag designated for the Architectural Bloggers’ Chat is #ABlogChat. Our inaugural chat will be scheduled for the second week in January. This first session will be to introduce ourselves and get acquainted – nothing too heavy. Following the chat I will provide a transcript. I’ve found these transcripts are useful for following other participants and to follow up on any interesting links that are offered during the chat.

Subsequent #ABlogChat sessions will have specific topics, themes or featured guests.

A theme here at Building Content in 2012 will be “Architecture Holds a Thousand Stories“. Eventually we’ll use this Twitter chat forum to discuss ways for you to begin to tell some of the thousand stories.

In preparation for our initial chat session and to establish an ongoing schedule, please leave a comment below stating when you are not available to participate. From this input I will determine an appropriate day and time for #ABlogChat – The Architectural Bloggers’ Chat.

(As a brief primer for any still uninitiated Twitter users, Twitter chats are online conversations centered on a particular topic and woven together by use of an established keyword. On Twitter this keyword in preceded with a pound sign (#) and is called a “hashtag”. Three popular Twitter chats you may already know are #AIAchat, #ArchEdu and #BlogChat. If you search these hashtag terms on Twitter and you will see the timeline of Tweets containing that hashtag.This hashtag feature is the basis for Twitter chats.)
