This is my entry in the latest Let’s BlogOff event. The subject; “That song stuck in your head”.
Earworms aren’t always bad things. (At least compared to their German counterpart, the “ohrwurm”.) In recent years I’ve gotten quite used to mine. I’ve named it. Pandora.
Seriously, since reading the prompt for this Let’s Blogoff, I can’t remember the last time I had a song stuck in my head that I didn’t want there. It might be age. It might be a lot of things. But I think it’s technology.
Between Pandora’s harnessing of the Music Genome Project and the portability of my iPhone – I have a perfectly tuned soundtrack for my life. Who has room for ear worms? I try to spend time writing regularly and I always have one of my hand-crafted Pandora stations on.
Who has any room for earworms?
I’ve listed three of my Pandora Stations here, along with their songlist descriptions, for you to choose from. They’re worm-free, but they will grow on you!
Mad Men Hi-Fi “Music inspired by the Mad Men television series. From cool night club and show songs to bawdy beach and party music to international spy themes. A few TV themes and commercial tunes for vintage media fun.”
CW’s Surf & Spy Shop “Deep cuts from the albums your folks kept hidden. Cool, counter and classy. If Quentin T. and Quincy J. compiled a playlist… “
Zimmer n’ Shore “This is a station I crafted to accompany my daily fiction writing. The film scores and orchestral themes serve as ongoing background music as I write.”
Tell me what you think!
Here are the other fine “earworm” blog posts:

Pandora is really one of the greatest apps ever. I will definitely check out your Mad Men station. I’m excited for season 5 to start in March.
Thanks for your comment. Pandora IS great, as is Mad Men.
